imagining how the church can reorient around mission

Preach

How do I know if I am
called…called to go?

When…

I
have my sometimes silly, halting emotions that flit back and forth in my mind
creating un-resolve

I
have my heavy and misplaced guilt, which moves but more often than not is still
born

I
have my pulsating ambition to be noticed, to be something more than someone who
follows.

How do I know if I am
called?

In
a world that says everything is ok, even though there is pain, war, and
suffering at every glance

In
an affluence that says that if you do, you may never “bounce back”

In
a protectionism that sternly warns of the risk…risk too great to risk.

How do I know if I am
called?

Because
you break through the insular cravings, to a heart that actually feels the
longing for the wide-open life.

Because
you stir secreted and surpising longings to serve, help and speak that by all
measurements reflect pure.

Because
you gently, but intensely draw my heart to those who have never seen, heard,
been…

Because
it says in your Book to follow the going Jesus into the harvest field, your
world.

How do I know if I am
called?

Because you break, because
you stir; because you draw me and I hear you whisper, “You are called.”  …and I go.
