imagining how the church can reorient around mission

As we've been going through this class I find myself taking in the information and thinking about how it applies to me personally. I know that at the beginning of the class and at other points along the way Rob has told and reminded us that being missional does not mean you have to leave home and be a missionary, and I know he's told us that being missional is a community thing as well as personal but it's been hard to keep that in mind. I've only envisioned applying the lessons in my own personal life, but not really in that of a group, such as a church, I find that more difficult to imagine. But Guder writes in his bookMissional Church that the church is also called to be missional as a whole, not just as individuals. It has to do with the Kingdom of God that we’ve talked about. The Kingdom is right here right now and while we can live personally with that knowledge it is the job of the church to embody and be a sign of the kingdom by being as Guder says a community, a servant, and a messenger of the reign of God. It's a little different to think about, but the truth is that this missional stuff isn't only something we do on our own. We need to point to the presence of the Kingdom of God by acting as a community under his reign, and that's not something we can do alone.  It means being in a community with other believers, instructing them in mission if necessary, and living like we really believe we’re all citizens of the Kingdom of God
