The Trouble with Tribbles: My Present Problem with Email

Too_Much_Mail

When I was a kid I used to watch the TV program, Star Trek. I loved Kirk's wild passion for life. I loved Spock’s logical responses to life most difficult dilemmas. In fact, I liked the entire crew of the Starship Enterprise. One of the unique episodes that comes to mind when I think of Star Trek was the episode called the “Trouble with Tribbles.”  Here, you can watch a little of the highlights!

On to the Emerald City this Weekend

Seattle

I am heading to Seattle this weekend to hang with some of my favorite people.

  • Dave Grisanti – Calvary Chapel, Silverdale – hired (read rescued) me some 20 years ago when I was ready to give up on ministry. I was on his staff for 3 years (ok, almost that long) and spent tons of time laughing, dreaming and being healed. He will be interviewing me in their Sunday morning service.
  • Keith Webb – CRM Coaching Guru – he is helping with CA’s Church planting progression.  He is a great strategic thinker.
  • Jon Sharpe – He was one of the guys that consistently encouraged me in my doctoral program.
  • Mark and Josephine Anderson – joined New Community in the early days when we had no people, no money and no reputation.  They believed in our community before we did.  When they decided to stay was one of the big turning points in the church's history.
  • Zac Fairbanks – that’s right!  My oldest son who is a student at Cornish, studying Jazz Performance.  He has a recital on Monday.  I am so excited to see him.  He is so amazing and talented!  I love him more than words can express!

I am seeing lots of other folks that are very important to me as well.  What a great trip!

What is the Church?

Here is a beautifully done video from one of CA's projects in Brussels called The WELL.  I found myself strangely moved as I watched it.  With so many people either pulling out or disparaging a caricature of the church, the Well and scores of other communities like them are representing Jesus in their cities in truly remarkable ways.

Take a look and let me know what you think! read more

I Am Being Serious

Hand knocking on door

Funniest thing heard in the last 24 hours: Ding dong (Door bell). Guy I'm staying with answers the door, "Hello!" Little old lady at the door, "Um, I just didn't want you guys to think we were having a huge orgy over here." My friend, "Ok, thanks!" Door closes. End of story.

I am being completely serious. Awesome!
