imagining how the church can reorient around mission

Here is a candid discussion about Porn from three seasoned guys who each have rich theological backgrounds.  It really highlights the the needed balance of grace and repugnance concerning the sin of pornagraphy.  Let me know what you think???

  1. I agree Steve. I think I have probably always listed a bit toward the self-flagellation side (maybe not the best term on this topic), but without incredible forgiveness and mercy from God…and Robi, I (we all) would be sunk.
BTW – I have both Piper and Keller on here to prove that I am an equal opportunity blogger, even though they are crazy Calvinist… 🙂

  2. When did you ask Keller into your heart?!
The part at the end about accountability and making sure that the brothers you are meeting with get how the gospel changes us is the key, I think. I need to know “sanctification by faith” for my own sin, but we need whole communities that understand it, and can distinguish it from both legalism and cheap grace, and help each other get to the sin underneath the sin.
For me, the realization that my sin is always linked to a lack of joy in Christ has been transforming… and watching that spread through our community is great. It makes a church that is both humble and bold at the same time… “winsome” is the word you always used, Rob, that nails it.
